A Starburst Magnolia with gentle raindrops delicately landing on soft white petals against a Mystical Blue colour mix background. This brush painting embodies the sensations of rain, shimmering silver light, and the promise of growth. The colours and the sensations evoke a mood of pause and nascent creativity. Mystical Blue is a combination of Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Violet, and Zinc white pigments. I covered a piece of handmade Hosokawa paper with this colour. Something in the mix reacted to create a raindrop texture on the paper and on the stretching surface beneath it. I brushed the magnolia directly onto the paper using a soft long bristled brush and fixed the surface with casein fixative. Finally I stretched the paper face down on the stretching surface which was still textured with residual pigments. This printed a delicate raindrop texture on the paper so the flower appears surrounded by raindrops.

The piece is fixed to a simple wooden batten with the title and my signature on the back. There is a clear thread attached for immediate display. I like the interaction of breezes and light with this free hanging method but if you would prefer another way of framing I can remove the batten prior to posting.
